Metal Tooled Gift Boxes and Ornaments (1 session)

In this class we will explore how to alter Altoid Tins using metal tooling repousse techniques to create new individualized tins for gifting, sewing kits, card holders, paint kits-whatever you may imagine! You can also create metal-tooled ornaments in the workshop. Metal Tooling is the process of decorating or creating texture on thin sheets of metal, often using various tools to press, shape, and imprint patterns or designs. Repousse is a technique that involves raising the metal from the back side to create a 3D design. Both techniques trace back to ancient civilizations like the Egyptians and Greeks, making them a great way to combine art and history. We will be using 36 gauge aluminum and a variety of tools and techniques. I will be providing all supplies including the Altoid Tins.
