The McConnell Arts Center opened in 2009—an inspiring example of historic preservation and adaptive reuse. Originally built in 1916 as Worthington High School, the building was designed by renowned Columbus architect Frank Packard. Over the decades, it served as a junior high, elementary school, and arts annex before sitting vacant. In 2005, the school board sold the property to the City of Worthington, paving the way for its transformation into a vibrant hub for the arts.

Since opening its doors, the MAC has honored its past while serving as a dynamic space for creativity, culture, and community. From classrooms and laboratories to galleries and performance spaces, 777 Evening Street remains a place where people come to experience the joy and wonder of the arts.

Rentals

The McConnell Arts Center accepts event rentals that include a ticketed, public performance. In conjunction with our mission of building pathways to experience the joy and wonder of the arts, this provides opportunities for the community to experience a wide variety of events and further support established and rising performing artists.

We greatly appreciate all the support we have had from all over the area, and look forward to continuing to be a public space that fosters creativity, community, and exploration.

Arts Rentals in the Bronwynn Theatre should be able to satisfy the following requirements:

  • Open to the public to purchase tickets – <10% of tickets should be comped

  • All ticketing handled through the McConnell Arts Center ticketing platform

  • No public catering/reception (individual meals for performing artists/event staff permitted)

Arts Rentals in classroom spaces should be able to satisfy the following requirements:

  • Arts-related activity OR regular business activities for an arts-related organization
