History of Gospel Music is a powerful concert featuring Dr. Patrice Turner, a Columbus native and graduate of The Ohio State University School of Music. An internationally acclaimed pianist, vocalist, and scholar, Dr. Turner brings deep expertise and artistry to this program, tracing the rich musical and cultural legacy of gospel music. She was featured in, and recognized for, her participation in the Black Church PBS project with Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. Dr. Turner will be joined by dynamic drummer Cedric Easton and additional musicians, whose artistry will add energy and depth to this inspiring and engaging performance.
