Join exhibiting artist, Parvaneh Hosseini, in an informative and in-depth tour of her exhibition, "Stitching Memories on Textile," at the McConnell Arts Center. This will be an opportunity for patrons to be in conversation with the artists about the work as they tour the exhibition.
Parvaneh Hosseini is a Columbus-based textile artist, storyteller, writer, daf player, and educator whose work brings together visual art, storytelling, performance, music, and Persian literary traditions. Through embroidery, fabric collage, and large-scale textile works, she transforms literature, memory, and cultural traditions into immersive artistic experiences.
Raised in Iran, Hosseini learned sewing and embroidery alongside her mother, a tailor, while growing up surrounded by storytelling and poetry. These early experiences continue to shape her artistic practice. She holds a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern and North African Studies with a minor in Anthropology from the University of Arizona.
Her work has been presented through exhibitions, performances, artist talks, and workshops at McConnell Arts Center, The Ohio State University, and Upper Arlington Public Library. Her interdisciplinary practice creates connections between textile art, literature, music, and storytelling, inviting audiences to encounter stories across cultures and generations.
