Join exhibiting artist, Emily Strange, in an informative and in-depth tour of her exhibition, "Flowers of Destruction," at the McConnell Arts Center. This will be an opportunity for patrons to be in conversation with the artist about the work as they tour the exhibition.
Emily Strange developed her passion for creative expression in Columbus, Ohio. Following a period of challenges and personal trauma, she relocated to New Jersey for a fresh start. A homeless shelter recognized her talent, offering employment and assistance with her GED and college applications.
This support led to a full scholarship at Parsons The New School of Design in New York City. While a student, she endured a devastating loss when her best friend died from addiction, a pivotal event that drove her commitment to sobriety.
Her focus and art evolved into a powerful voice reflecting her personal journey and the struggles of others. Her work brings awareness to the realities of addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and suicide. She strives to be heard for the seemingly invisible.
Emily Strange works full-time between Brooklyn, NY, and Columbus, OH. Ten years sober, she remains dedicated to her practice, creating impactful work deeply connected to her experience and the broader community.
